Using acrylic paint, and ink on canvas or paper, I make expressive gestures and marks to produce abstract images that are reminiscent of landscapes and seascapes. I use a range of tools to spread and scrape the wet paint. I rarely use brushes as I just don't like the marks they create.
Like most people brought up in Birmingham, I have always been drawn to the sea. The colours and textures of the coast have inspired my creative work for many years. Since moving to Suffolk in 2020 the wide horizons and big skies of East Anglia can be found in my artwork alongside the delicate patterns found on a simple pebble.
I am still exploring and developing my visual language. I don’t want to recreate the world that I see but rather to express the feelings that it inspires within me.
