Margie North
When I was a child I was given a ‘paint by numbers kit’ but I refused to follow the instructions. Later on my painting of a Cornish Harbour ( from memory) was selected by the Royal Academy’s School’s exhibition and was praised for its use of colour. I can well remember the visit and climbing the red carpet red stairway.
For forty years as a teacher and headteacher I encouraged children to express themselves through the Creative Arts. Since retirement I have been on many courses and can spend time expressing myself through paint. Wivenhoe and Walberswick are my favoured places to paint. I try to capture the feel of a place through colour and texture whatever the medium.
