Gay Hutchings
I trained at Central St Martins, London, as a painter/printmaker and worked in these media for many years.
I have always been fascinated by glass, particularly stained glass windows, so some years later I returned to Central and studied Advanced Stained Glass for a further 3 years. Since that time I have made many windows on commission, both private and public.
These days, however, I prefer to make free-standing fused and slumped glass pieces with which I can play around and experiment with different techniques, i.e. inclusions, screenprinting etc. I love the bold colours and transparency of glass and my designs, though fairly abstract, are loosely based on the colours and shapes in nature.
I still continue to make prints and have been experimenting with screenprinting and monoprints.
