Claire Deciacco

Claire is a landscape artist working predominantly in oils. A self taught, emerging artist with a particular love of working En Plein Air (painting from life outside) using a limited palette, Claire also works up larger pieces from studies and photographic references in the studio.

The unique Essex coast and countryside where she lives hold a special interest, with the aim of capturing the fleeting light, documenting a moment in time and the essence of the landscape that she loves.

Claire is inspired by 19th century artists including John Constable’s oil sketches (painted in nearby Dedham), Arthur Streeton, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Joaquín Sorolla amongst others. She takes part in regular life drawing classes.

After starting out as a professional dancer, Claire went on to have a second career, running her own Graphic Design business for the last 25 years. She is also a keen sewist and makes her own clothes.

Claire has exhibited her paintings in various group shows and also sells her work through her website – where her full portfolio of current work can be viewed.
