Statement

Elizabeth Llewellyn works mainly in acrylic and oil paint. Portraiture and life drawing have always formed a focal point of her inspiration. She is inspired by the subtle beauty of the landscape and her aim is to represent the enigmatic quality of light. She incorporates common features of life into simple compositions, - the elements, the seasons, the way in which the landscape responds to these. These themes form a core to her work. Although inspired by nature, her intuitive style is not restricted to simply one subject.

Elizabeth received formal training at Blacon Art School in the early 90’s and later at North Shropshire College where she was complimented on her work by renowned artist, Chris Dunbabin. After gaining a place at Kent Institute of Art & Design, Elizabeth spent the following years raising her children and painting commission work.

She has exhibited work in Chester and Oswestry and in Germany at the Oisin Kelly Gallery, Gelsenkirchen. More recently, she has exhibited at The Christine Storey Gallery, Brightlingsea.
